They brew their own beer, which makes this the most genuinely independent thing in the Cross. Run by Clare and Glen, who host rather than serve. BBQ Sundays off the smoker, pizzas, bottomless brunches they'll build around whatever you want. Small, characterful, and worth the walk up from the green. Closed Mondays.

Open from nine in the morning to late, which makes it the rare place you can have coffee and a cocktail without changing venue. Warm lighting, a lot of greenery, and a room that doesn't feel much like Poole. Cocktails are the draw — the spicy margarita especially. Book at the weekend.
