This is not legal advice. This page is a factual description of what Sorted in Dorset currently collects and shows, written by the team, not reviewed by a solicitor. For your own situation, get proper legal advice rather than relying on this page as final.
Sorted in Dorset is currently in beta. This page explains, plainly, what we collect and show — there isn’t much of it, but it’s more than just Save.
You can browse everywhere on Sorted in Dorset — places, events, search, categories — without an account or giving us anything. Signing in (email only, no password) unlocks a set of optional personal features, each of which stores something different:
We don’t collect your name, phone number, address, or payment details. We don’t track what you browse or search for, and we don’t use your location.
Signing in sets one cookie — the session token that keeps you signed in between visits. It’s strictly necessary for the site’s account features to work at all, so we don’t need to ask permission for it (this is standard under UK cookie law for anything the site can’t function without). It is currently the only cookie Sorted in Dorset sets.
If you tap Save or Been while signed out, we briefly note that intent in your browser’s local storage, so it can finish automatically once you follow the sign-in link. It’s cleared automatically and never leaves your device.
We use Vercel Web Analytics to see aggregate pageview counts — how many people visit, roughly where from, which pages are popular. It doesn’t set a cookie, doesn’t use local storage, and doesn’t track you individually across visits or sites. We don’t use any advertising or fingerprinting cookies, and no other analytics or tracking tool is active on Sorted in Dorset.
Sorted in Dorset runs on two service providers, both of whom process data on our behalf under their own privacy and security commitments — neither uses your data for their own marketing:
We don’t use any analytics, advertising or tracking services.
For as long as your account exists. If you’d like your account and everything attached to it deleted, email us (see below) and we’ll do it by hand — this product doesn’t have enough people using it yet to need a self-service delete button, but that’s coming.
Under UK GDPR you can ask to see what we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted. Since the only things we hold are your email and your saved items, this is quick — email us and we’ll sort it directly.
We’ll update this page if what we collect changes, and won’t start collecting more without saying so here first.
